Our Beliefs

The Bible

The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the guide in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice.  Red Lane Baptist Church affirms the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.  We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the Good News of salvation for the sake of mankind.

The Ordinances

The ordinances of the Church are baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe the Bible teaches that believer's baptism is by immersion. We also practice a closed Lord's Supper. This means that we believe the Lord's Supper is reserved solely for those who have been redeemed in Christ and followed the Lord in believer's baptism. Thus, we invite all believers who have been baptized by immersion to partake, regardless of whether they are church members.

Our Confession

Red Lane Baptist Church affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Our Values

Engaging Worship

We believe God created mankind to worship, so we desire to engage both the heart of God and the heart of man in our worship settings in such a way that God's Spirit brings abour life transformation. Corporate worship is a dialogue between God and His gathered people. God initiates worship by speaking to us through His Word and calling us to respond. We respond to Him in faith as we sing His praises, pray, give financially, obey His Word, and commit our lives in service to Him.

Psalm 96:1-8; 98; 145:18; John 4:23; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16

Biblical Proclamation

We believe that the clear teaching and explanation of the Scriptures is vital to spiritual growth and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Our desire is for the biblical text to provide the substance, structure, and spirit of each sermon. We are committed to the authority, sufficiency, and inerrancy of Scripture. As it is our final authority, it takes precedence over our opinions, emotions, and preferences. Therefore, we work diligently to faithfully preach, teach, and apply the Bible to everyday life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 4:1-2; Titus 2:1

Biblical Community

Community is an intriguing biblical concept progressively revealed in Scripture. Glimmers of it are seen early in the Old Testament, but its full expression is disclosed in the New Testament epistles. We affirm the Bible's declaration that God is actively bringing lost humanity into community with himself and with other followers of Christ. Christian community, then, is a unified body of individuals who are one together through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:19-22; Acts 2:44-47

Vibrant Prayer

We believe prayer is vital to the health and growth of the body of Christ. Through corporate and private prayer, the church seeks direction, wisdom, and the power of God for the advancement of His kingdom purposes in the world.

Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 2:1-6

Covenant Church Membership

We believe that membership in a local church is vitally important to both the individual believer and the body of believers. The New Testament compels every believer to live in covenant with a local body of believers. This relationship serves as an umbrella of mutual encouragement, exhortation, protection, and discipline in an ever-changing world. Membership in a local body also means a mutual responsibility for worshipping together, participation in the ordinances, serving of one another, and helping one another live out the gospel implications contained in our church covenant.

1 Timothy 3:14-15; Matthew 18:15-17; Hebrews 13:17; James 5:14

Biblical Discipleship

We believe that God calls the church to make disciples from every generation, every economic strata, and every people group. Discipleship includes evangelism, biblical instruction, and mentoring that leads to a person reproducing himself in others. Our church is called to make disciples of our neighbors and the nations.

Matthew 28:18-20
