Our Staff

Hello! My name is Bill Gohmert and I am the Senior Pastor at Red Lane Baptist Church.  On behalf of the church I want to welcome you to Red Lane and I look forward to meeting you.

 

I was raised in a Christian home in the piney woods of East Texas, and like every good Texan who loves the best, I attended Texas A&M University where I earned a bachelors and masters degree in Architecture. I practiced Architecture for a number of years with my father, and while I loved to see things built, God impressed upon my heart that building lives is more important than buildings. 

 

So, after surrendering to God’s call to ministry in 1994, I went to Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where I earned a Master’s degree in Divinity. I am currently continuing my studies by working on a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southern Seminary with a focus on leadership and making disciples. 

 

The Lord wonderfully led our family to begin serving Red Lane in September of 2010, and we are excited about what He is already doing here! I have previously served as a Senior Pastor of churches in Texas and Maryland, and also as an Education and Evangelism Pastor here in Virginia.  Our family has also had the privilege and life-changing experience of serving the Lord in overseas missions.   

 

I am married to my best friend Andrea, and we have been very blessed with two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Daniel, who both keep us laughing all the time!

 

Our desire here at Red Lane is: to GLORIFY God in all that we do through our ministries and worship services, to GROW believers through biblically-based teaching and prayer, and to make disciples who will GO out into Powhatan and all the world sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
